For kids like me who grew up in the PNW in the 1970s, no TV show—or celebrity—was bigger than J.P. Patches. J.P. (Chris Wedes) led an insane cast of lunatics including Gertrude, Boris S. Wort, Ggoorrsstt the Friendly Frpl, and many more (most of whom were played by Bob Newman). The show’s humor and spontaneity hooked adults too. As kids, we couldn’t explain what made it so special, but there was nothing else like it. You can look it up, but if you weren't there, you probably won't get it.
