We are in year 4 of living in the south, in Lake Wylie SC, just outside of Charlotte, and our property came with a very old and thick muscadeen. It has been a bit of a struggle to figure out how to bring this back to be manageable and give some fruit. 4 years ago I pruned it too aggressively, and the subsequent years I did less of that but also cut back some of it and the old trellis that was falling apart under it. This year I pruned it again, just now, towards the end of winter. We shall see how we'll it does this year. I got the first real fruit last year, but not a very large ammount.
